McEwen Fishing Charters

 I am your captain Matt McEwen, and we are a small family friendly fishing operation. We hope to provide all our patrons with the most enjoyable fishing charter experience and build returning clientele and form friendships for years to come. Born and raised fishing saltwater all over BCs beautiful Coastlines I offer years of experience to guide you to success.  

  Rates for 2025 are 1495$ plus Gratuities (Taxes included in price) 8-10 hours up to 4 guests per day (+100$ for 5th guest)

We require a non-refundable 350$ deposit to reserve available dates

*We offer a 100$ same day discount off our rates to anyone booking a Spruce cabin at Kinnikinnick Campground & RV (limited to availability)

  We are excited to offer your fishing charter experience from a new 2425 Kingfisher Escape. With 27 feet of total boat length, it is well equipped with a flush toilet (with privacy curtain), diesel heater, new Honda motors, winch anchor system and the latest Garmin electronics. We are well stocked with quality fishing gear & tackle and hope to see you reel in the fish of a lifetime.  

  With an extensive background in Rescue and First Aid you can rest easy on our vessel. I am fully certified in SVOP, SDVBS, ROC-M, Level 3 First Aid and have appropriate insurances. 

Unfortunately, bad weather days can happen, in which case we will honor the deposit and reschedule in the same season if possible. If this isn’t an option, we can offer you priority booking for the 2025 season once availability is established. I will do my best to provide 24-hour notice, for any weather cancellations. 

We will pick you up from the dock at either the public boat launch or Marina in Port Edward, BC (15 mins from downtown Prince Rupert). We can start as early as 5 am or as late as 7am (your call). Expect to be back to the dock between 3-5pm. To start the day there will be a brief safety run down and waiver form, and then we’ll be on our way. The Prince Rupert/Port Edward area fishing grounds offer excellent opportunity for Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Crab and many other ground species. Please let me know your target species ahead of time and I will make the appropriate game plan for your day. I highly recommend booking multiple days for those wanting multi species targets. Catch will be fully dressed, cleaned and bagged to legal DFO standards at the end of the day. Rupert meats offers excellent fish processing that we recommend travelling clients utilize.

Clients are responsible to have photo ID & valid Saltwater fishing license and Salmon stamp (if wishing to retain salmon). *We will not leave the harbor if you do not have a printed copy of your license on your person. Be prepared to get wet so dress for the weather appropriately. For those subject to motion sickness please remember gravol or other remedies. I recommend having coolers in your vehicle to transport catch up the dock at the end of the day. Each person will be provided a lifejacket keep in mind I have limited sizes for children. I keep a small stock of extra Rain gear which is available upon request. For those who wish to enjoy some beverages on the trip we ask you to drink responsibly.
